Dastkaari publishes guidance on immigration, visas, banking, taxes, and daily life in Germany. Much of this is what Google calls YMYL — “Your Money or Your Life” content: getting it wrong can cost a reader an application, money, or worse. We hold ourselves to a standard that reflects that. This page explains exactly how we research, write, verify, and correct what we publish.

Who writes Dastkaari

Every guide is written and edited by our founder, a Pakistani who moved to Germany more than a decade ago and personally went through the visa process, the Anmeldung, the Ausländerbehörde, opening a bank account, and building a career here. Immigration articles carry a byline and an author bio box so you always know who stands behind the advice, and every reader can reach us at hello@dastkaari.com.

We write from lived experience combined with primary sources — not by paraphrasing other blogs.

Our sourcing standards

For anything involving law, money, or an official process, we verify against primary and official sources before publishing:

  • BAMF — the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, for asylum, integration, and residence matters.
  • Make it in Germany — the official German government portal for skilled workers, for visa routes, Blue Card and Chancenkarte rules, and salary thresholds.
  • The relevant Ausländerbehörde (local foreigners’ authority) guidance for city-specific procedures.
  • Official .de government and agency pages — the Federal Foreign Office, Bundesagentur für Arbeit, Finanzamt / Bundeszentralamt für Steuern for tax figures, and the Auswärtiges Amt for consular steps.
  • For financial products (banks, insurance, transfers) we describe how the product works and link to the provider; we do not present marketing copy as fact.

If a claim cannot be verified against an official source, we hedge it, flag it for review, or leave it out — regardless of what that costs us in search traffic or affiliate clicks.

How we handle numbers

Salary thresholds, blocked-account amounts, Chancenkarte points, tax rates, fees, and deadlines change. Every figure we publish is checked against the official source at the time of writing, and each immigration guide shows a “Last verified” date so you can judge how current it is. When a figure is set annually (for example the EU Blue Card salary threshold), we note the year it applies to.

We do not fabricate statistics. If we cite a number, it comes from a named source.

Update cadence

  • Immigration, visa, and tax guides are reviewed and re-verified on a rolling basis, and always when we become aware of a rule change (for example a new Skilled Immigration Act provision or an updated salary threshold).
  • The “Last verified” date on each article reflects its most recent check.
  • Our automated publishing pipeline runs an independent fact-checking pass — a second review that verifies current German immigration and tax figures against official sources — before any immigration article goes live.

Corrections policy

We would rather leave something out than publish something wrong — but we are not infallible. If you find an error:

  1. Email hello@dastkaari.com with the article and the specific claim.
  2. We verify against the official source.
  3. If we are wrong, we correct the article promptly and update the “Last verified” date.

We correct in place rather than quietly deleting, and we welcome reader corrections.
