Who We Are
We are a small team of Pakistani professionals living in Berlin. Between us, we have spent over a decade in Germany — navigating visa applications, decoding German bureaucracy, hunting for apartments, building careers, and figuring out everything in between.
We know what it feels like to land at Frankfurt airport with a suitcase and a hundred unanswered questions.
Why We Built Dastkaari
When we first moved to Germany, we spent weeks piecing together advice from scattered forum posts, outdated blog articles, and well-meaning but sometimes wrong WhatsApp forwards. The information was either too generic (“how to move to Europe”) or written by people who had never actually gone through the process as a Pakistani.
We wanted a single, reliable place where Pakistanis could find accurate, practical guidance — written by people who have lived it. That is what Dastkaari is.
The name “Dastkaari” (دستکاری) means craftsmanship in Urdu. We chose it because moving to a new country and building a life there is a craft — one that takes patience, skill, and the right guidance.
What We Cover
Our content is built around five pillars, covering the full journey from Pakistan to Germany and beyond:
1. Immigration & Visas — Step-by-step guides for the Blue Card, Job Seeker Visa, family reunification, student visa pathways, freelancer visa, permanent residency, and citizenship. We break down the paperwork so you know exactly what to expect.
2. Settling In — The practical stuff nobody tells you: registering your address (Anmeldung), opening a bank account, choosing health insurance, getting a tax ID, finding housing, and surviving your first month without losing your mind.
3. Career & Jobs — How to find work in Germany as a Pakistani professional, what salaries to expect, how to format your CV for the German market, and how to get your degrees recognized.
4. Real Estate & Investment — Can you buy property in Germany as an expat? How do mortgages work for non-EU residents? We cover everything from KfW loans to rental yields, city by city.
5. Community & Culture — Life as a Pakistani in Germany: where to find halal food and Pakistani restaurants, celebrating Eid away from home, raising kids across two cultures, and dealing with homesickness honestly.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Immigration advice is not something we take lightly. Wrong information about visas or legal requirements can cost people their applications, their money, or worse.
Every article we publish that covers immigration, visas, or legal topics follows these rules:
- We verify information against official sources — BAMF, Make it in Germany, and the relevant Ausländerbehörde guidelines
- We include a “Last verified” date so you know how current the information is
- We always include a disclaimer: our content is informational, not legal advice — for your specific case, consult an immigration lawyer
- When German immigration law changes, we update our articles
We would rather leave something out than publish something wrong.
